Canon Character Section:
History: Nathan Wuronos
Personality:Nathan Wuornos is genuinely a good person. That's the first thing people should understand when dealing with him. He loves with his whole heart and that can be a bit of a problem. Nathan is in love with Audrey Parker and at times it can blind him. Maybe he should have let her go into the Barn to save people from the Troubles, but he never once entertained that thought. Nathan has fought tooth and nail to keep Audrey from going in there and losing her forever. Nathan's love for Audrey is so great that when he went back in town and met her as Sarah he managed to retain the same feelings for Sarah as he did for Audrey. Nathan would do anything for Audrey Parker. He would sacrifice an entire town to a meteor storm if it meant keeping Audrey alive. A town that Nathan loves and has protected time and time again. That's how strong his love for Audrey and that's how much of a blind spot she is to him. Nathan's latest relationship failed because it was easy for Jordan to see how utterly in love with Audrey he was at the time. Nathan even opened fire on the mysterious Agent Howard in an attempt to keep the Barn from disappearing with Audrey inside of it. He urged Duke to go after the Barn despite Nathan having been shot twice by Jordan and standing in the middle of a catastrophic meteor shower. He shows no regard for his own life. The only thing on Nathan's mind is getting Audrey back.
Honest and decent seem to be Nathan's default emotions except around Duke Crocker. Nathan holds a grudge like nobody else if you wrong him. At times it can make him seem one sided, but it's important to remember that Duke and the other kids didn't make Nathan's life easy growing up. Nathan's Trouble triggered and this resulted in Nathan being unable to feel anything. He couldn't feel the air against his skin. He couldn't feel his own skin. Nathan had absolutely no feeling. Once while Nathan spoke to a girl he liked Duke and other boys came up to pat Nathan on the back in an attempt to "congratulate him" on his success, but that wasn't what they were doing. The boys were sticking push pins into Nathan's back. Nathan didn't notice until blood was dripping down his back. Nathan's existence hasn't been an easy one. In the past it's made him hostile and rude to Duke, but he's eased up a lot lately. Nathan has pretty much come to the conclusion that him and Duke both love Audrey a great deal. It makes him jealous, but he's learned to deal with it for the sake of keeping Audrey safe. Nathan realizes that Duke would risk the same amount as Nathan to keep that woman safe and it binds them in a strange way. Nathan even looks overjoyed to see Duke after he's been missing for six months, but that could be Nathan's mind connecting Duke's return to Audrey returning as well.
Nathan is a bit of a softie at times. This is seen multiple times throughout the course of the show, but the most recent being when Audrey wanted to adopt a dog after a rather bizarre case. Nathan comes over to walk it with her and spends a lot of time on his knees playing with the dog in the grass.
Tenacious doesn't really cover Nathan sometimes. He doesn't give up easily. All the signs pretty much point to Nathan being up a creek without a paddle regarding Audrey and her Barn situation. Nathan doesn't let this go though. He holds out. He sacrifices everything and is willing to sacrifice his life if it means that Audrey can have a life and stop having to go into that Barn. He's willing to let Audrey kill him to stop the Troubles for his town. The same town he's been protecting since he became a cop. Nathan's don't give up attitude is likely what won Nathan Haven's Officer of the Year award. He keeps people safe no matter what.
At times Nathan can come off crotchety in the way that he handles Duke, but when he's around the people of his town he's incredibly gentle, sweet and friendly. He even manages to make friends with Tommy when he comes into town. Showing that despite him being a little crabby with certain people it's not who he is completely. He is at times a little sarcastic and a sass master when he talks to Audrey or even Dwight.
Things have changed for Nathan come season four. The kind, caring and compassionate man that did everything in his power to help Troubled people backed away from everything. Nathan thought he was responsible for killing Duke, Audrey and his son James. Nathan realized that he was almost willing to let his town be destroyed. He caused a lot of damage to Haven and he blamed himself. Nathan blamed himself so much that when Marion's power was causing weather problems it was Nathan who volunteered to stay in the frozen house longer than he should have. He was willing to stay in there and talk Marion down even as he fell to his knees due to his muscles given up.
With Audrey and Duke gone Nathan closed back into himself and moved himself away from the people left that still cared about him. He became emotionally distant and quit his job at the Haven PD. Nathan was letting bikers beat him up for money outside a bar for the last six months. It's noted that Nathan was so depressed that he would have preferred being dead over being the last one standing. The Guard (an organization in Haven that wanted Audrey to go into the Barn) were angry with Nathan. They believed him shooting Agent Howard was what stopped the Troubles from ending once Audrey went into the Barn. They wanted him dead and Nathan almost let them have that too. He held on though in hopes that he'd get her back so instead of letting them have their way Nathan left Haven completely to get away from them. At this point Nathan Wuornos seems to be a shadow of his former self.
Despite being in emotional pain after losing Audrey, James (his son) and Duke to the Barn the goodness in Nathan still shines through. Jordan (who is responsible for shooting Nathan twice) is unconscious in a field due to Duke shooting her to stop her. Nathan gets her to the doctors where he takes the time to explain her Trouble (which involves causing people intense pain when they directly touch her skin) so they can operate on her. It's things like this which show that Nathan is still a selfless individual despite everything he's been through. He's always willing to do the right thing and take the high road despite the fact that Jordan has tried to kill him and the people he cares for numerous times.
Nathan cares so much about Haven and so much about Audrey that he's willing to end the Troubles permanently by letting Audrey kill him. When Audrey kills the one she loves the most it means the Troubles go away forever. Nathan is willing to die to bring peace to his town once again and give Audrey a chance at living a real and normal life even if it's without him.
Coming into Teleios will be hard for Nathan. Having Duke there will help steady him, but seeing Audrey might send Nathan into a bit of a tailspin. He's lived without her for six months. He's lived with the fear that he was responsible for her dying fir six months and it's done a number on him. Nathan might buck Teleios at first, but eventually he'll come to the conclusion it's given him Audrey so he can't hate it. He'll probably pep up a little bit just by being around Audrey. Just being able to physically see her every day will make him feel a lot better. He'll possibly start shaving again. And getting haircuts.
Powers/Abilities: Due to his "trouble", Nathan can't feel physical sensations, including pain, at all. It's not a medical problem, but a result of the Troubles. He has no feeling of touch, but for some reason can feel Audrey's touch until season 5 when Audrey lose her immunity to the Troubles. His inability to feel pain can prove advantageous at times, being able to simply ignore incapacitating injuries. Although it can prove dangerous at other times, since he may not notice severe trauma has occurred, which can still kill him.

Samples:Actionspam Sample:[ Last thing Nathan remembers is Dwight asking him to come back to the force. Nathan refused, but with enough reasoning Dwight was able to get him back. Something he's more than a little pissed about. He cared about Haven, but if he was going to stand a chance helping them he needed to find Audrey. He wasn't sure he could juggle cleaning up after the Troubles and leading a damn manhunt as well. Duke would likely help, but he's not sure Duke is on board with Nathan dying for his town. And for Audrey.
Nathan's head swims when he sits up. Like an awful hangover. His stomach flip flops and he pushes his hand against the floor to get to his feet. His palm catches against something sharp and he hisses at the sudden onslaught of pain. Nathan's on his feet before he realized he felt that. He turns his hand over to look at the wound and presses his thumb against it hard. He makes a noise at the pain and then he's looking around. The surroundings aren't familiar, but they're also not the Barn. The only place to ever stop Nathan's Trouble completely. Other than when Audrey touches him.
He's moving through the crowd quickly. Nathan finds the first person he can grab up front and it call comes out like word vomit. ] What'd you do to me? [ He asks in a hurry. ] Why--I can feel everything. What'd you do? [ He's happy, but he's also from Haven. He knows that being Trouble free does not come at an easy price. Not one he wants to even pay. ] Do you have a Trouble too? [ Something must be happening to negate his Trouble. It can't really just be gone like that. ] I can feel again. Just--just tell me how you're doing this.
Prose Sample:Teleios. Not the Barn. Not Haven. Not normal. He's pretty sure he's never heard of Teleios. He's starting to miss Dave and Vince. They never really truly answered their questions, but they did know things. Manipulating an answer from them would take some doing, but it's possible they'd have something to tell Nathan about. Any sort of answer would be good enough for him. He'd even take the cryptic information they almost always supplied them with. Nathan's not entirely certain he believes the people in charge of this place. Lying comes too easily for them to just volunteer information like that. Maybe he's just have a few too many bad run-ins with Duke in the past. He could tell Nathan the truth, but he chooses to embellish and alter the truth with little alterations here and there. Why tell Nathan the whole truth when he can tell him a carefully thought out lie? That's why he doesn't trust these people to be completely and hundred percent honest with him regarding the info they know.
His first stop is the bar. It's the quickest way to get information in a new place. People always feel chatty after a few drinks. Even if he doesn't directly approach the drunks for information there's still anyone else in there. Bartenders know a fair amount of info. Bar patrons as well. Not even just drunks. First thing Nathan notices when he gets outside though is the way the sun feels on his skin. He can feel it. All of it. Nathan tilts his head back and looks up at the sky. He shuts his eyes briefly and smiles at the way it feels. Best thing he's ever experienced. Short of Audrey's touch. It's been a long time since he's gotten to feel like this. The entire walk to the bar is something else entirely for Nathan. He's not used to the breeze or the way it feels to run his fingers over the blades of grass. The goosebumps Nathan gets on his arms actually make him laugh.
Nathan stops outside the door and presses his hand against the door. His fingers run over the grain and he nods. Another thing he can feel. Textures. Once he steps into the bar his eyes scan the room looking for something or someone familiar. A cool breeze brushes over the back of Nathan's neck and makes him shiver. Another sensation he'll have to grow used to. Hopefully soon.
